gauge affects taste
Written by Douglas Johnson on Aug 9th 2018

The Vintage series comes in different lengths and gauges, but they all use the same aged tobacco and wrapper. So they all taste the same, right? Not at all. For example, I don't enjoy the Vintage II's at all. The gauge, being more narrow, doesn't allow the same easy draw as the IIIs and Vs and not only do I not enjoy smoking the IIs but amount of smoke that surrounds my nose on exhale is much less and so it really impacts the flavor experience of the cigar. Vintage IIIs are my favorite overall cigar. There's more bang for the buck with Vs, and they have the same gauge, so you're safe with Vs.
