Halfwheel #24 Cigar of the Year 2017 Rated 91
FRATELLO ORO CIGARS
New for 2016 the Fratello Oro Cigars, this marks the third blend release from owner Omar de Frias and the first time having his blend made in the Dominican Republic using an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper. Omar de Frias wanted a mild to medium Connecticut style cigar in his portfolio, a blend that is creamy and smooth but yet deliver good amounts of flavor, still staying true to his company’s full flavored blends.
The blend is comprised of an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers held together with a Cameroon binder. The blend come about when Omar went back to his homeland in the Dominican Republic to work with La Aurora Cigar factory; the oldest factory in the country, which has an extensive stockpile of some of the finest tobaccos from all corners of the global.
The result is a very enjoyable smoke—smooth, creamy and well balanced, the cigar allows the shade wrapper to shine while also allowing the fuller bodied fillers to deliver a solid richness. If you are looking for something a little more than your average run-of-the-mill Connecticut style smoke, then get your hands of the Fratello Oro Cigars.
