Vallejuelo Medio Tiempo
Few cigars get rated by Cigar Aficionado, fewer receive such high ratings, and on top of that even fewer are as affordable. No wonder Cigar Aficionado gave it the "Best Bargain Cigar of 2010." Well the company was created a follow up to their successful Vallejuelo line, a fuller bodied smoke called the Vallejuelo Medio Tiempo, the same great construction and flavor profile but using rare medio tiempo tobacco, they are also available round or box-pressed format.
The Vallejuelo Medio Tiempo boasts a good amount more strength then the original Vallejuleo blend, but still delivering the wonderful flavor and amazing level of construction that's rarely seen in cigars at this price. What makes the Vallejuelo Medio Tiempo special you might ask? The line uses very rare leaf called “Medio Tiempo,” these leaves are not found on all tobacco plants, sometime plants develop two additional tobacco leaves that grow at the very top, above the ligero. The highest leaves on a tobacco plant take the longest amount of time to ripen, receiving the most sunlight and nutrition from the plant. The result is that these leaves deliver a rich spicy full bodied and strong tobacco.
These smokes are finished expertly with a flat mounted head, a Cuban-style three-seam cap and a reddish, oily Mexican San Andres wrapper. The blend consists of a well-aged Dominican binder and ligero filler tobacco from both Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. The Vallejuelo Medio Tiempo delivers full flavors of coffee, toast and blackberry notes, that are well-balanced with a pleasant finish of spice and natural tobacco sweetness. So if you like the original Vallejuleo’s that scored an impressive 92 and 93 points, respectively, in Cigar Aficionado Magazine then the Vallejuelo Medio Tiempo is a huge step up!
