Karen Berger “K” Maduro Robusto 6/21 70% draw; soft silky mouthfeel; Nestle milk chocolate color, phenomenal construction w a slightly wavy burn line, beautiful bands. Using a long soft draw and retrohale rewards the smoker. Med-full flavored, but very mild strength. 1st 3rd: Bread, m choc, nut oil, Serrano Chile (assertive heat), coffee and a sour/sweet tamarind on the retro. Finish is med length, woodsy w some earth. 2nd 3rd: nutty sweetness turns bread to graham; tamarind becomes plumy; some soft pepper lingers but the assertive spicy heat mutes considerably. There’s some pleasant bitter wood across the back palate. A surprisingly strong leather appears, accompanied by a soft cappuccino on the retro. Note: bands come off effortlessly, w no residue. Final 3rd: soft salt and white pepper that fills the entire mouth w warmth, join the softening flavors. Spice and wood continue to build, especially on the retro, as you approach the final inch and a half. Summary: a very pleasant, medium bodied, mild smoke; lots of transition - very interesting; soft and full flavors, overall sweet chocolate, fruity leather. Personal score: A-
