Hi all, I have smoked cigars for over 15 years and I have not been a CAO fan. I thought they have been over done with mass produced lines. I was persuaded to try the Fuma Em Corda when it came out a few years ago and it was phenomenal. They managed to create a nice full bodied cigar and yet make it very flavorful and smooth. So when the Amazon Basin came out, I had very high expectations. They did not disappoint! I am very sorry to read someone had a bad experience because this is my favorite cigar over the last 5 or 6 years since I did a tour of Central America and had fresh hand rolled cigars.
Well, here is my take on this. I was looking for a long time to find these cigars, and finally, I got the box, which was on sale here at Atlantic. Here is my review: First, its a beautiful looking cigar and it smells awesome, dry fruits, sweetness, and cedar on prelight; however, once I lighted one, the disaster started. It started as a bitter, salty, sour taste with hints of bubble bath soap and nasty pepper on retrohale. Second third - some french man's colon like the old "Savage" taste added to the "flavor." And last third, the nasty burst of bitter ammonia just added to the bouquet. I was trying to finish it, but I put it away when I started gagging on this thing. Chocolate - shmocolate... In conclusion, it feels like I just ate a bar of soap, drank french perfume, and breathed a lot of ammonia fumes. I think maybe I've got a bad stick or CAO just rushed this batch to sale. These cigars must be aged and aged and aged until they become smokable, and hopefully, it will improve in time.
Outstanding......very nice flavors, went out and bought more.....
This is an excellent cigar and is a must add to your humidor if you enjoy a nice smooth med body cigar
