Stop Here for the Best Perdomo Cigars

Perdomo is one of the most highly regarded names in tobacco and cigar production in the modern world. Alongside names like Montecristo, Romeo Y Julieta, Gurkha, and other banner producers, Perdomo is noteworthy not only for its quality but for its excellent customer service and price.

They don’t only produce their cigars; they also grow their tobacco, cure it, and age it as well. In addition, The Perdomo family, which still owns and operates Tabacalera Perdomo’s production facilities, has been staunch in quality control and pricing. Without ever compromising on the production of premium cigars, they have striven to keep pricing competitive throughout the years. They are the only cigar maker that absorbs the SCHIP federal excise tax placed on tobacco related products instead of building it into the price and passing it along to their customers.

That’s reason enough to appreciate their model, and it doesn’t hurt one bit that they are one of the most highly esteemed cigar brands in the cigar industry today. Renowned for construction and the quality of their tobacco, Perdomo continues to be a name on which connoisseurs and those with a passing fancy alike can rely for enjoyment.

Top Picks from Perdomo

Any collection of cigars that purports to be a collection of the best is likely to miss the favorite of one or two people. Everyone has their preferences, and that’s why you should take some reviews with a grain of salt. Then again, the first rule of getting into anything is not to let anyone tell you what you like, or why.

With that in mind, we don’t mean to sway your opinion unduly one way or the other. We only mean to showcase some of the best Perdomo cigars that we offer here at Atlantic Cigar. If your favorite is on this list, then that’s great news, and if not, keep enjoying what you enjoy.

Still, you can take reviews and suggestions into account when you’re shopping especially if you are looking to expand your horizons, find new favorites, or even when you are shopping for someone else.

With no further adieu, take a look at some of these highlights from our collection of Perdomo cigars. We made sure to pick evenly from our collection, and there are some very different cigars in the mix. Still, we’re sure you’ll find something to appreciate from this collection.

Perdomo Small Batch Series Sun Grown

The Perdomo Small Batch Series Sun Grown Cigars are a line of medium to full-bodied cigars that are available in many shapes and sizes. With Nicaraguan Sun Grown wrappers and Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos, these cigars are nearly certain to please those who like a mellow smoke that is still curiously rich.

Perdomo says these cigars have a creamy smoke that is well balanced and contains notes of woods like cedar and sweets like caramel, given them an interesting balance. With a deceptively smooth finish, these cigars would please the senses well on their own but would not disappoint in the company of a strong spirit.

Something else about this line of cigars is that they are not available everywhere and can only be found in the collections of select retailers. If you have ever had the chance to try one of them and liked it, buy up before the limited collection runs out. We happen to be fortunate enough to have them here, so get them while you can.

Perdomo 20th Anniversary Maduro

The Perdomo 20th Anniversary Series contains several premium cigars that are finished with Perdomo’s signature Connecticut, Sungrown, and Maduro wrappers. Each one has its merits, but we might claim that Maduro is one of the most popular among them.

All of the cigars from this line are aged for 8 years and present the opportunity to experience a rare and expertly aged cigar that is just a bit more than medium-bodied but not quite so heavy as to be called full.

Handmade and just powerful, the Maduro Perdomo 20th Anniversary cigars offer a rich and complex blend of flavors in their smoke, ranging from the heavy notes of earth, coffee, and cocoa to the piquant, stimulating notes of spices. Not entirely earthy but also not entirely sweet, the Perdomo 20th Anniversary Maduro is an excellent introduction to this line and as fine a Maduro cigar as you will be likely to find anywhere.

Perdomo Double Aged Vintage Line

We recognize that this is a line and not a specific cigar, but it’s hard to pick just one out. Other critics have suggested that Maduro is most worthy of praise, and it certainly is due to its share. Any of the cigars in this line are worth a try, but we’re going to hazard a suggestion and call some attention to the Epicure Connecticut.

It’s called a Colorado Claro, but with its tawny Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, it looks a lot darker than most other claros that are also occasionally called jades. What it has in common with some jades, if it lacks the color, is the lightness on the palate.

This stands in contrast to the Maduro we just suggested, and this cigar, with its Nicaraguan binders and fillers, is a lot lighter in flavor and body. That’s not for want of expert handling and aging, however, as these cigars were produced from tobacco grown in the early 2000s that was aged for 12 years before being rolled.

The resulting cigars are truly unique, offering a thoroughly enjoyable experience throughout the life of the cigar. Smooth and more mellow on the palate, these cigars only insinuate at a touch of earth or spiciness. If you are looking for a Perdomo that will afford you a milder, more toned-down experience, one of these expertly aged cigars may do the trick. Anyone who enjoys a milder cigar will love them.

Perdomo Estate Seleccion Vintage Connecticut

These cigars are also available in many shapes and sizes, depending on your preferences as a smoker. Even on the small end, however, they’re fairly large cigars. Many of them are made in a ring gauge of 7 and they announce themselves.

These, like the former, are also called Colorado Claros, though they are a bit richer in the color of their Ecuadorian Connecticut wrappers than some of the Double Aged Vintage Line referenced above. With Nicaraguan binders and fillers, these cigars also offer a more mild smoke, but one that is laced with complex notes.

These cigars are widely said to offer a very mellow, creamy, smooth smoke, and one that is well accented by hints of caramel and cedar. As this cigar lacks some of the spiciness of the other Perdomos on this list, it may pair better with some lighter beverages. A sharp, smart cigar pairs beautifully with spirits; this cigar will pair well with many cordials, digestives, or even a coffee.

Perdomo Habano Bourbon Barrel Aged Connecticut

Like many of the Perdomo Cigars we have investigated so far, these are also available in a range of ring gauges, sizes, and shapes, but in this specific case, most of these afford a very similar smoking experience.

These cigars make artful use of Nicaraguan binders and fillers and are wrapped with a Connecticut Shade wrapper that has been aged for at least six years before undergoing an additional aging process inside of bourbon barrels - for six more months - before ending up as a part of the finished masterpiece.

The result is a cigar that is exemplary for construction, for the artfulness of its blending, and for the flavors that it provides the smoker. Like many other Perdomos, this one carries notes of cedar that commingle well with its slight sweetness, as cedar straddles the line between sweetness and spice.

It also carries notes of earth and bourbon, and the cigar smoke will become drier as it matures; the finish is drier and less creamy than at the start. Unsurprisingly, one of these cigars would pair admirably well with a spirit such as a bourbon.

Perdomo Lot 23

This is another series of cigars rather than a single one, and it’s hard to pick out a single favorite from the bunch. These are rich handmade cigars that bring a lot of flavor and enjoyment for just a little price. We offer Sun Grown and Maduro varieties here at Atlantic Cigar, and we’d like to give some of the spotlights to the Perdomo Lot 23 Maduro Gordito.

This fat little cigar, hence the name, is a joy to hold and to smoke. These cigars have been produced from the planting of Corojo and Criollo tobaccos from the late ’90s and these tobaccos have created truly wonderful flavors in these cigars.

Beautiful to the eyes and refreshing on the palate, these cigars will remind the smoker of notes of spice, earth, woods, and even leather that will suggest themselves at various points throughout the life of the cigar. Not too sweet or too sharp, even for a Maduro, this is a wonderful cigar that is laden with a bouquet of notes.

Perdomo 10th Anniversary Sungrown

The Perdomo 10th Anniversary line is available in a Sungrown variety as well as a Maduro variety, but we will focus on the Sungrown here. These cigars, regardless of which ones you prefer, are wrapped in six-year-old Cuban-seed wrappers that were also aged for 10 months in bourbon barrels. Like the bourbon barrel-aged cigars mentioned above, these are noteworthy for complexity and a hint of their spirits, to say the least.

Like many Perdomos, these present a very mellow, creamy smoke, but these are somewhere in the middle of the road in strength. If you decide to enjoy your time in the company of one of these, you might be surprised to notice earthy notes, coffee, spices, and perhaps even some notes of woods.

Perdomo Champagne Robusto

There are plenty of entries from the Perdomo Champagne line to appreciate, and this is one of the best of them. With a Connecticut Shade wrapper and filled with Nicaraguan binders and fillers, this is a cigar that is pleasant in the hand and on the palate, ideal for those who enjoy a mild smoke.

This is one of the lighter cigars on this list, and some smokers will even report that the cigar starts stronger than it finishes, becoming more mellow and more balanced throughout the life of the smoke.

Nuts, even dried fruits, and a certain amount of sweetness define this cigar, and if you appreciate a mild smoke this might be the best cigar on this list for you. Small but deceptively delicious, the Perdomo Champagne Robusto is one for the ages.
